Use of the New Media by Students and Its Impact over their Social Life


Technology is one of the determinative elements in humankind’s evolution. Social change is being is brought together with the massive usage of technology in many fields such as: health care, transportation, communication, industry, education etc. Industrial revolution was the most important step of technological development in Western Europe. With the raw material and market seeking endeavors it gradually took an influential role in the world politics. These processes caused developments in military technologies of the World War 1 and World War 2. However, the satellite technology has been discovered after the wars. Thanks to these processes, mankind has witnessed an enormous communication revolution.
The influence of new technological developments are increasingly changing today’s modern life. New communication technology is being integrated into our life through several ways such as at work while producing goods and services, at home while resting or doing housework, or on the road while driving, or on the streets while walking… Along with its vast usage and quantitative impact, it has a qualitative influence through facilitating our lives. However, these technologies not only have positive contributions but also have negative effects as well. Particularly this impact can be seen on young generation enormously. Because new media penetrated into the prevalent parts of our life like schools, coffee houses, libraries, homes etc., our life style is shaped by the developments in new communicational technology.

The new media was turned into a new source of information for youngsters, it became a practical part of student life today. In comparison with the past, students spend less time to reach knowledge via Internet yet mostly unverified information is widespread. Cell phone, social media and online video games cause technological addictions. Excessive and wrong use of technology destroys the daily life of youth more than any time else. Nowadays, we can see that technology addiction causes failures in the schools and it reduces curiosity for learning and unfortunately leads to communication disorders. The widespread use of Internet also makes young people to cut ties of social life integration. Many people who feel lonely are tend to find friendship online. We have been witnessing that technology damages social life and interaction of youngsters.
